EDMwire History
|
Autodesk developer since 1992.
The Fire 9000 has a 24x36 inch format @ 16,000 dots/inch on clear film which is used by the circuit board and integrated chip manufacturers. The program evolved over three years into a product that is still in use today. The Fire 9000 uses a flavor of Gcode called the" MDA Gerber Format" which is a subset of EIA RS-274-D. RS-274-D (the same code standard Mitsubishi uses in its wire machines). By 1996, EDM wire was required by one of our subsidiaries, which necessitated choosing one wire machine to work with. The Mitsubishi FX10 fit the bill because of its hands-on ability, programming style and transparency, which allowed unhindered observation of its workings. Following is a list of criteria required for the software:
Every
software package available failed to meet the criteria because of the extremely
long list of code the software generated and the poor use or lack of control
over the wire machine, so our company created new software using AutoCAD as its
editor, which is accessible and user friendly. In 2002 a full-time programmer
was hired to finish and maintain the program. The program has now evolved to
the point that it works in AutoCAD R14, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2005, and 2006.
It runs the 90HA, CX, SX, FX, FXK, QA, RA, FA, FA-P, and FA-V Mitsubishi wire
machines.
The company's goals are simple:
Thank you to all the people who have worked so hard over the years to help create this program including the Applications Department at MC Machinery Systems in Wood Dale, IL and Cypress, CA. Jim
